The Department of Regional and Spatial Development drafts the Voivodeship Development Strategy and coordinates its implementation. It also oversees support from European Structural and Investment Funds in the region.

It is involved in the preparation of the draft negotiating position of the Pomeranian Voivodeship to the Territorial Contract, coordinates and organizes the process of negotiating this contract with the minister responsible for regional development, and monitors activities related to the implementation of projects arising from the contract.

The Department participates in the preparation of forecasts of socio-economic and spatial changes in the voivodeship. It monitors and evaluates how EU, national and regional policies affect the development of our region. It issues opinions on the location of public roads, railroads and airports.

It also gives opinions on decisions on the location of such investments as a gasification terminal and flood control structures. It operates a point of contact for international programs, supporting Pomeranian entities in the preparation and implementation of projects under these programs.
