The department identifies the causes of poverty and develops social assistance programs to reduce it. It deals with vocational and social rehabilitation and helps people with disabilities find employment. It prepares and implements provincial programs for the prevention and resolution of alcohol-related problems, drug abuse, and domestic violence. The department’s tasks also include supporting and caring for families and implementing the foster care system.
ROPS runs pre-adoption and adoption intervention centers and regional care and therapy facilities.
It takes care of veterans and victims of repression. It creates conditions for dignified and healthy aging and carries out activities for the integration of senior citizens.
