The department supervises and implements tourism projects co-financed by the province, organizes meetings and conferences on tourism, manages the website Pomorskie.travel, cooperates with the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization and local tourist organizations, and initiates and undertakes activities for the development of the province’s tourist brand.

Its tasks include the classification of hotel facilities, keeping records of hotel facilities and a register of tour operators and travel agencies operating in the Pomeranian Province, as well as the supervision of these entities.

In addition, the department performs tasks related to representing clients in matters concerning the payment of funds from guarantees to insurers.

The DPT creates legal, organizational, and economic conditions for the development of physical culture in the region, including:

• implementation of projects in the field of physical culture by awarding targeted subsidies for the organization and conduct of sports training and competitions in the province,
• monitoring the proper implementation of tasks related to the awarding of targeted subsidies,
• performing tasks related to the awarding of sports scholarships,
• performing tasks related to the awarding of prizes and distinctions in the field of physical culture by the marshal,
• participating in the organization of sporting events promoting sport in the province,
• developing and implementing a long-term program for the development of sports facilities and other programs in cooperation with the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and local government units
