The labor market in the Pomorskie Voivodeship is undergoing dynamic changes. Over the last five years, the unemployment rate has fallen 2.5 times, and the employment rate in the region is higher than the European Union average and the average for Poland. In addition, Pomorskie is home to the largest number of pre-working age people in the country, and the percentage of the post-working age population is one of the lowest. The number of foreigners, mainly from Ukraine and Belarus, who choose our region as a place of work and life is successively growing – in 2014,  5 800 declarations on entrusting work were issue, and in 2019 it was 128.8 thousand of those documents. Pomorskie also ranks third in the country in terms of the average gross salary, which is PLN 5,735.65.

The self-government of the Pomorskie Voivodeship is constantly taking action to activate unemployed people of all ages, supports entrepreneurs in finding qualified employees and subsidizes training for people who want to expand their competences. Subsidies are also provided for preventive examinations aimed at occupational and lifestyle diseases, non-refundable subsidies for starting a business or assistance in childcare for women returning to the labor market. The budget of the Regional Operational Program for the Pomorskie Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020 includes PLN 982.9 million for these purposes.
