The study trip to Kaliningrad and Klaipeda was preceded by a meeting of the IW E70 working group in Elblag on 30th June, during which the course of the visit, presentation of the Polish side and organizational issues were discussed.
Subsequently, three workshops took place from 1st -3rd July: conference in Kaliningrad Harbor – inland and sea transport, seminar in Polesk – water tourism and seminar in Klaipeda – inland transport and water tourism. The three-day study tour of the IW E70 working group made it possible to familiarize with the state of infrastructure of ports, harbors and reservoirs (Kaliningrad Reservoir, Pregoa, Deima Canal, Curonian Reservoir) and planned water tourism development projects in Kaliningrad and Lithuania.
During working meetings, planning and design solutions for ports and marinas (Gwardiejsk, Polesk, Kaliningrad, Zelenogradsk, Rybachiy, Ushakovo, Klaipeda, Neringa) were introduced. During the meetings of the expert group in Kaliningrad, Klaipeda and Polesk, Polish experiences on the development of the International Waterway E 70 for the purposes of water tourism and inland waterway transport on the section of the Vistula Lagoon – Kaliningrad Reservoir – Curonian Reservoir were presented. Problems related to inland waterway transport on the eastern section of the IW E 70 and Lithuanian inland waterways were discussed.
