The aim of the meeting was to present the Minister and the Vice President with the achievements related to revitalization and development of the aforementioned waterways, and to propose municipal support in order to restore navigability and the economic use of waterways in Poland. During the meeting the plans of the ministry concerning the implementation of the Strategy for Inland Navigation Development, the launch of the work on the feasibility study with an environmental impact assessment for the Oder and the Lower Vistula, the establishment of Inland Navigation Funds, ratification of the AGN Convention by Poland or inclusion of the list of tasks related to inland navigation in the European Strategic Investment Fund (the so-called Juncker Plan).
On the other hand, during the second part of the meeting the attending discussed a change of the Water Law, the aim of which is to change the system of managing the water economy through strengthening the catchment management of water economy and the system of funding operations for maintaining the waters, improving their quality, and implementation of investments in water economy. Additionally, on May 31st, 2016, also in Torun, the E70 International Waterway Interprovincial Committee held debates. The members discussed the state of the implementation of the agreements and the E70 International Waterway action plan, state and municipal cooperation for revitalization of the E70 International Waterway, and the navigational barriers on the E70 waterway.
