The analysis shows that the implementation of the Programme will allow to save from PLN 24 million to PLN 70 million per year through reduction of external costs of transport. Additionally, the fees for using the infrastructure by the ships should amount to PLN 6.4 million, the operators should be able to save up to PLN 15 million due to reduced transport costs and the inland ports should generate net incomes of PLN 48.6 million on cargo-handling services and PLN 5 million from harbour charges. Profits from tourists using the waterways are estimated to amount between PLN 68 and 234 million. The maintenance of the additional port infrastructure will generate annual costs of PLN672 thousand. Despite such good indicators, the investments are expected to start paying off only after 20 to 40 years of using the new infrastructure.
It is estimated that, thanks to the project, 1,500 new jobs will be created, additional 3,500-5,000 jobs indirectly related to inland shipping and further 4,500-6,000 jobs at a later time. In total, the implementation of the programme is expected to generate 12,500 new jobs.
