The Marshals of voivodeships: Pomorskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Lubuskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Wielkopolskie and Zachodniopomorskie, considering the need for economic and tourist revival on the International Waterway E70 in Poland, declared their intent of cooperation in the following fields: creating interregional policies to coordinate the use of the IWW E70 potential with a view to economic development; jointly lobbying the central government for development of the IWW E70; taking initiatives aimed at ratification of the AGN Convention (on main inland waterways of international importance) by Poland; supporting initiatives aimed at promoting water tourism along the IWW E 70 with regard to the cultural, natural and landscape values of the voivodeships signing the Declaration; flood protection of the areas along the IWW E70. The signatories to the Declaration also signed a Memorandum to the Polish Government in support of the ratification of the European AGN Convention (the European Agreement on Main Inland Waterways of International Importance). It is noteworthy that the meeting was also attended by officials from the district-level administration of the Nowodworski Poviat, Mr Maciej Płażyński, Deputy Speaker of the Polish Senate, and a large group of sailors taking part in the Sailing Rally along the Wisła Królewiecka Waterway. The official part of the meeting ended with a scientific conference devoted to the activities for the revival of water tourism. The participants could learn about the objectives of the programme for the development of waterways within the Vistula Delta in the Vistula Lagoon region.
